Hi, my name is Sunny Waas, and I am the owner and bike fitter at Sunny’s Bicycle Fitting. I became a bike fitter in the process of finding a fitter that could help me address the issues I've had on my bike due to serious injuries resulting from a 45ft fall in 2006 due to a work accident in shipping. My experiences help me tune into every client's needs, understand their concerns, and produce a unique solution to address them.

My bike fitting solutions are based on the following principles:

  • Your central nervous system runs the show more than you know

  • Pelvic posture is key to comfort and power by getting all your leg muscles to have good force-length ratio

  • Cleat placement is critical in allowing your central nervous system to engage your posterior chain

Once these principles are implemented, it becomes quite easy to get you riding without your hands going numb, straining your neck, and depending solely on your quads for riding. Yes, your glutes and hamstrings should be working without you having to consciously engage them. You may already know that consciously trying to make them work is only good towards the beginning of your ride when you’re fresh, and not after fatigue sets in.

I’m fully aware that my methods are unusual. However, my clients have experienced profound benefits on their bikes, including several who came to me on the verge of quitting cycling (the horror!) and are riding strongly to this day.

To make this possible, I look at optimizing several key components on your bike: crank arm length, the saddle (the saddle itself, height, fore/aft position, and angle), handlebar width and stem. Weather permitting, all sessions include a ride outside under my observation to make fine adjustments to your bike, posture, and technique to get your bike fit even closer to perfection.

You will get a lot of information coming your way during my sessions, so please be prepared to take notes and ask questions!

I realized that my passion for bike fitting needs to be supported by education when it comes to providing your clients the best service, so I’ve committed to a path of continuing education and certification courses on an ongoing basis. As of writing, I’ve completed Level 1 and Level 2 in BikeFit Education, as well as a 3-day class with IOG Bike Fit Consulting. I am also pursuing International Bike Fitting Institute, and currently certified Level 1.  In addition, I am constantly studying anatomy, biomechanics, and psychology to keep my skills sharp and offer you better results.

I also offer bike sizing services with the use of a GURU Dynamic Fitting Unit. With the growing number of direct-to-consumer bike brands, this allows the client to confirm what they want to buy will actually fit them.

See you soon!
